12How To Get Moltres

If you couldn’t understand my short notes for how to get Moltres don’t worry because now I’m going to fully tell you what I meant!
Introduction: Moltres is a cool and dangerous Pokemon which appears to be a legendary Pokemon. Adding this to your Poke’dex on your Pokemon Red, Blue or Yellow can help you to get the rare and mysterious Mew!
Make sure you have (Mewtwo), about 10 Ultra Balls and Strength.
Let’s begin…
1. Get all 8 badges from each of the 8 GYM Leaders in each city and head to Viridian City.
2. Head east from Viridian City and you’ll have to defeat your rival if you want to pass.
3. Once you have defeated him continue heading east until you find a house.

4. Enter the house and walk next to or in line with each guard so they can check if you have all the badges from the Kanto region.
5. Once all 8 guards have seen your badges head north into the cave ahead.
6. Once you’ve entered the cave you will notice a white square panel is blocking the path ahead. To remove this panel you must find a boulder and use Strength to push it around so you can push it onto a red button nearby which will remove the white panel once a boulder is put on top of it!
7. Once you reach the third floor head east and down the ladder to the second so you can then head west and find a legendary Lv. 50 Moltres!
Tip: Moltres is a real tough one to capture try to make it fall asleep and don’t make it’s HP too a low red point!
Tip: Capture Mewtwo first before trying to catch Moltres. Use it’s Psychic attack which should almost defeat Moltres then throw some Ultra Balls.
Tip: Beware Pokemon Yellow gamers as there are dangerous wild Pokemon around which will try to weaken you!
Hint: Save before battling Moltres in case you screw up

Hi Paul,
What you have here is a serious problem and even I was stuck on this one! To capture Moltres on your Pokemon Red you need a Master Ball. It’s the same for Articuno and Zapdos!
I recommed you get the other two by trading with a friend!

in my opinion, there’s nothing special actually in ‘cathcing’ moltres….
the thing i did was just paralyze it and put it into the yellow hit point status…
just bring hundreds of pokeballs….. ultraball doesn’t make any diffrence..
in my 18th throw 1….2….3….. pow…….” moltres had ben caught”….
it needs patience!!!!!!!!!!! when i was trying to catch articuno, it took me about 12 hours to catch it…. the same way i did with moltres….. and three legendary bird pokemon is mine…. masterball is used to catch mewtwo… don’t waste it on any other pokemon….. and one other thing, i prefer use poke ball than using ultra ball, coz it’s cheap and ultraballs doesnt give much diffrence…..

I have a Pokemon Fire Red I wasted almost all of my money for ultra balls but I can’t catch moltres when I am fighting it I almost use the master ball but that is for mewtwo I still dont have mewtwo but i have all 8 badges but when I fight the Pokemon League I forgot to save I deafeated all elite four but I loose to my rival so I’m back to the strart and a tip how to advance to mewtwo
Hey Paul. All you need to catch Moltres is a few ultra balls. ( I’d say about 30 jsut to be safe.) Next, Use Blastoise or any other strong water type pokemon, not too strong though and get him into low yellow or red. Paralyze him with thunderwave or anythign else that won’t actually do any damage with your pikachu. Then take out your strongest pokemon that can take all the hits Moltres dishes out while you throw your ultra balls at it and try to catch it.
yea, i think its all wrong… to capture him… i lowered his stats… i put him to sleep… i through one to many poke balls, and they all missed… there is no way im using the master ball on some bird…
so i think its all rigged.
ima just beat them all, and trade for them… thats the easiest way.
Hmm… Moltress is a fire type legendary pokemon, right? Will it be weaker against water type pokemon? Fire pokemon is strong against grass type pokemon; grass type pokemon is strong against water type pokemon…. From here, I drive into theory that water type pokemon is strong against fire type pokemon.
moltres is catchable with any ball, but the ultra ball makes it easiest, unless you use the cheat which means you get inifinite master balls, wich i think would be pretty useful for you here. otherwise, weaken the moltres, get it right down to red, paralyse it or send it to sleep, and then throw some ultra balls at it. simples.
Moltres isn’t showing up. I already beat the game so is there any way to get him now?
I have used 30 ultra balls and 15 great ball with moltres barely having any health and each missed. Are you sure you guys aren’t lying? lol
guys, the only thing I did to catch the other legendary pokemon is using the master balls i gained with a cheat. if you know the cheat it will be very easy to catch it
i attack moltres with gyarados[ice beam], than i use weak pokemon. attack until it’s hp goes red, then i use about 20 ultra balls.

Ok people let me just help you get ONE thing straight! Moltres Articuno Zapdos etc. Do NOT absolutely 100% need a Master Ball to be caught. Master Balls just catch em in one hit without missing, but other balls Poke Great or Ultra they can and will miss but not everytime it`s all up to patience and chance. Your welcome Administrator and anyone else with the same problem~~

Wow – so after reading all of this and finding Moltres, I was *not* expecting to catch him without giving up my master ball.
But all I did was “poison him badly” with one of my dragon pokemon, and brought out my blastoise and used an ultra ball when Moltres was just near death. The poison must have been enough to “weaken” Moltres because the ball rocked once, the ball rocked twice, (I was expecting a “poof” and a reappearance here) and the ball rocked a third time and he was caught. Too cool!
HEY EVERYBODY! USE VBA! CATCH MOLTRES WITH UNLIMITED MASTER BALLS!
What happens if we’ve lowered its hp down to just 1?

okay, so i just caught moltres (pokemon yellow)…
step 1: thunder wave with pikachu
step 2: surf with blastoise
step 3: mega punch with blastoise (moltres is now in low yellow)
step 4: throw ultra balls (they will miss sometimes) and after a few throws he was caught
After having some trouble as well I just caught one as well.
I used my Blastoise (47) to weaken him (very low yellow, not even in the red). Then I switched to Haunter to put Moltres to sleep. Throw about 6 Ultra balls at him and escapes every time. He woke up and put Haunter in that stupid fire spin (I hate attacks like that) I finally got him in another sleep and caught him on my 2nd to last Ultra ball.
