Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sold 1,586,360 copyies of the game in the first week of their sales (September 28th – October 1st), making it the fastest selling DS game ever in Japan. This destroys the record originally set by New Super Mario Bros, which sold 865,024 units in that game’s first week.  Pokemon Diamond and Pearl also broke the record for the fastest selling Pokemon game in Japan. The record was previously held by Pokemon Gold and Silver (surprisingly), which managed to sell 1,425,768 copies in their first week back in the year 1999!
